Calculate motor FLC, recommended breaker, cable size, overload setting, and starter type based on AS/NZS 3000 motor tables.
FLC is the maximum current a motor draws at full rated load. It is used to size cables, breakers, and overload protection per AS/NZS 3000.
A 7.5kW three-phase motor at 400V has an FLC of approximately 16A. The breaker should be rated at 250% of FLC, so a 40A breaker is typically used.
Overload protection is typically set at 105-125% of the motor FLC. For a 16A FLC motor, the overload would be set around 18.4A.
